Northstar was founded to fully explore the potential of Merlot, Washington's star grape variety known for its rich, supple texture and generous structure.

Made in extremely limited quantities, acclaimed California winemaker Jed Steele has access to some of the best vineyards in the Columbia Valley for this very special wine.

Following traditional Bordeaux protocol, the winemakers ferment and age Northstar in small lots to allow maximum selectivity when it comes time for blending. Most vintages include a generous amount of Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon to add to the wine's structure. The result is Merlot with the unmistakable power of Columbia Valley grapes and a seductive display of rich fruit flavors perfectly matched with firm tannins and polished oak.
